Eureka returns for its "mid-season premiere" this Friday.
*******CORRECTION: IT PREMIERED LAST WEEK JULY 10, 2009, I'M HEADING TO SYFY.COM TO WATCH************
It has been so long since there has been new Eureka that I don't remember much at all... Now to the Sci-Fi spelling change to Syfy, I can't say I'm outraged, but I'm not thrilled either, and most of all I hope they're wrong here:
In their view[the fans], it signals an official move away from the science-fiction genre toward reality shows, cheapo monster movies and their biggest peeve—pro wrestling. “This was a major screwup from the word go,” says Rob Frankel, author of The Revenge of Brand X. “To really build a brand, you need credibility, clarity and leadership. You don’t alienate your loyal users, which is exactly what Sci Fi did. It wasn’t broke, so why fix it?” [ http://www.tvguidemagazine.com/news/why-syfy-1509.html ]
I hope they're wrong and that doesn't happen, That would be a big "screw you" to the viewers, but it already is kind of happening. I'm baffled over their ECW(Wrestling on syfy, come the heck on that's not even remotely related to the network's subject matter), crappy movies(for the most part) and reality TV. "Imagine Greater"??!! Are you saying via the spelling change, wrestling, reality TV, and slogan, that there is something better than sci-fi out there on TV??
I have news for you... there isn't!!!!!!!!! .......
Hopefully Eureka, Sanctuary and the upcoming show Stargate Universe can redeem them.
